AMC-6

The AMC-6 satellite is located at 72 deg west orbit longitude,  approx due south of  Connecticut and Dominican Republic.  For most places in the US the satellite is towards the south east.

Launch date 22 Oct 2000.

Ku band:  24 x 36 MHz transponders, each TWTA 110 watt.  Coverage map shows the downlink power (eirp) in dBW per transponder, operating at saturation.

Type: Lockheed Martin A2100

Satellite transponder frequencies:  Ku band 14-14.5, 11.7-12.2, beacon 12198 Horizontal polarization.

14020, 14060, 14100, 14140, 14180, 14220 ,14260, 14300, 14340, 14380, 14420,14460 MHz

14040, 14080, 14120, 14160, 14200, 14240, 14280, 14320, 14360, 14400, 14440, 14480 MHz

This is a satellite has a high level of redundancy (spare on board amplifiers etc) with the aim of a 15 year operational lifetime before replacement.  It has fuel for 15 years orbit position station-keeping.

Satellite transponder frequencies:  Ku band 14-14.5, 11.7-12.2, beacon 12198 MHz H

Please note that each 1 dB reduction in beam eirp contour level requires a dish 1.12 times larger diameter.  Each 3 dB reduction requires a dish 1.41 times larger in diameter. 10 dB reduction requires a dish 3.15 times larger in diameter.
