Everybody on the forum can do it, but I see only one company actually did it in https://www.highspeedsat.com/ism.htm Somalia. The WAFA's price seems reasonable - only $ 1,099 for the complete system.

Hi....

There are a lot of companies which can provide VSAT connection for Somalia with affordable price.

But be very careful of the price-tag

I have same two sports shoes bought from the same market but a big gap in price.... business is like that!!!

Lots of regards.

Regarding two-way VSAT monthly service pricing.

The cost of providing the service depends on two factors:

1. The maximum total bit rate provided
2. The number of other sites sharing the same satellite capacity.

So here are five theoretical examples of different monthly charges, based on the same customer terminal equipment.

80kbit/s down and 20kbit/s up, dedicated, US$ 600 per month. Good for five PCs and a VoIP phone used regularly. Congestion under your control.

80kbit/s down and 20kbit/s up, 5:1 sharing, US$ 120 per month. Good for one PC and a VoIP phone used occasionally.  Congestion outside your control, service subject to fair-use-policy to penalise greedy users .

800kbit/s down and 200kbit/s up, dedicated, US$ 6000 per month. Good for 50 PCs and several VoIP phones used regularly. Congestion under your control.

800kbit/s down and 200kbit/s up, 10:1 sharing, US$ 600 per month.  Good for 5 PCs and one VoIP phone used moderately.  Congestion outside your control, service subject to fair-use-policy to penalise greedy users.

800kbit/s down and 200kbit/s up, 50:1 sharing, US$ 120 per month. Good for one PC and one VoIP phone used occasionally.  Congestion outside your control, service subject to fair-use-policy to penalise greedy users.

So, with the same equipment, you may pay anything from US$ 120 per month to US$ 6000 per month.

What you pay per Mbyte downloaded will be about the same in all cases however.  If you plan to have many PCs connected you will need a higher monthly tariff to avoid overloading your connection. I have provided some idea of what each tariff is good for above, but much depends on useage. A PC user doing MP3 uploading/downloads and lots of VoIP calls counts as about 4 or 5 average PC users.

Best regards, Eric.
