Title: Need install and service in Ukraine
Post by roboton on Jan 12th, 2007 at 9:40pm
Need proposals for 2, 4, and 8 Mb capable install and service in south Ukraine (would select one of these levels of service).  This would be for a home connection to run my wireless router.  Please reply as soon as possible.  Thanks.

for home and ISPs, we provide DVB-RCS HW, also. which can upstream upto 3Mbps and downstream upto 80Mbps for your region.

But please specify, what applications would you run over that fantastic speed though your requesting for SOHO use kind a large capacity?

Thank you,

I work in two areas: finance and graphics.  Yes, very different areas but my data upload/download requirements are similar for both.  For the graphics side of things, I am fairly frequently (as in 1-3 times a day) moving large size files of between 100 and 500 MB up and down to/from servers for my colleagues' review.  And for the finance side, I am in need of being in constant contact with my peers for teleconferences that are quite data heavy and also for sending files of around 100MB quickly.

One more thing: I am currently based in the US with a cable modem speed of approximately 6 Mbps, and am very accustomed to this speed.  Going down to a DSL level speed of 768 kbps is frankly unacceptable to me after having this for such a long time.

Thanks for your input.

It should be possible to meet your download speeds if a 80 Mbit/s downlink DVB-S type carrier is available, but you need to check that the service provider really understands what you want to do.  Such high bit rate downlink carriers are shared with perhaps thousands of other customers in order that the total revenue matches the cost of providing the service.  Your tariff needs to be sufficiently high so that you are able to receive your fair share of the total capacity, which appears to be perhaps 10 times that of an average user.   Also the "fair sharing system" needs to set up and to actually work correctly so that your particular service is not unduly constrained by congestion caused by many others on lower tariffs.   Many users with a low price "up to 2 Mbit/s" tariff will receive very much lower bit rates for most of the time.

Typical high bit rate (>1 Mbits/s peak) shared tariffs are around $180 per month for an average of 10kbit/s.  If you download 1 Gbyte per day (average 90 kbit/s) the tariff might be $1620 per month.

For reference, the cost of providing you with a dedicated service of say 300kbit/s down is around $1800 per month.  If you used this for 1/3rd of the time then the price would be the same as above, per Gbyte.

Best regards, Eric.

Sure for xDSL you can pay much lower then Satellite Broadband Access, you can ask why:

Actually, the cost of space segment is quite expensive, so as we are operator we deal with satellite operator also and pay for backbone connectivity through the COLT Networks. So, it becomes quite expensive, then the xDSL solutions.

- Anywhere you can subscribe our more suitable for you service plan which is shared also and the contention ratio is 1:16 - 1Mbps/2Mbps, this service has its BoD means that like allocated CIR 100%. *The service is unlimited for both directions for upstream and downstream.

- There is another solution dedicated bandwidth, we can discuss about that also which would be counted by your requirements, and the service is guaranteed 100% CIR and SLA supported, would be available per your request.

- The next is 1Mbps Upstream and 8 Mbps downstream, for its big allocated capacity, we sell it by Gb, it shows its magnificence by its high speed and comfortable use for SOHO and ISP, depends on the volume of traffic use per month.

The all above solutions are available on the DVB-RCS technology called Viasat Linkstar, now we use also DVB-S2 new generation of DVB access.

as after you check the full service plans on that URL https://www.discovery-global.net/prices.htm. we would be able to make a quotation for your review upon of the request.
