Title: NileSat Horizontal channels in UK
Post by rclick on Jun 12th, 2007 at 8:21am
I can receive all the Vertical channels but not Horizontal.
My location is Swansea - south wales
My dish: 2.4m, c120LNB + FEED HORN

Please, can any one receive horizontal channels?
I have been trying for over 3 weeks now and nothing,

I can receive both v and h from other satellites, so there is nothing wrong with my setup.

Thanks,
Karim

Using a 80cm dish in Essex I can just about detect three carriers on Horizontal polarisation at 10850, 10890 and 10930 MHz, from an orbit position about 7 deg West.

On Vertical polarisation I can see that there are carriers at:
10722, 10750, 10790, 10875, 10910  Can you confirm any of these ?    All are about (C+N)/N=1 dB.

Here is the spectrum I see.  Most of the big signals are from AB2 at 8 west, one is from AB3 at 5 west,  but with your bigger dish you should be able to split them better and get a much higher Nilesat signal.

Ref: my antenna position code = 530 https://www.satsig.net/spectrums/satellite-spectrum.htm
If you want Vertical polarisation email me and I will alter it.

Best regards, Eric.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for your reply,

You mentioned
.... but with your bigger dish you should be able to split them better and get a much higher Nilesat signal...

I can receive 8deg and 5deg no problem, my problem is receiving Horizontal channels from Nilesat 7deg west.
How do I split channels? I am not familiar with this term!

Thank you for your help.
Karim

My dish is so small and its beam so wide that receives signals from several satellites simultaneously.  With your 2.4m dish your beam is much narrower and you will see more of what you are wanting and less interference from the adjacent satellites.

What frequencies and symbol rates are you successfully receving on Vertical polarisation from Nilesat 7 west ?

What frequencies are you trying for, on horizontal ?

The carriers marked in red are what I think are from Nilesat.  Can you verify the freq/symbol rate of the vertical ones and try to receive the horizontal ones ?  They are so low level that may be high power signals from satellites further away but being received by my sidelobes.

Best regards, Eric.

Here is what i can receive from nilesat 7w with my two dishes

1.2m andrews with ku-band linear feed horn and invacom c120 lnb = All vertical transponders 24/7 &in the rain but i get no horizontal transponder i do get a lock on the horizontals but not eunf to lock on and download the channel data,

1.8m prodelin with ku-band linear feed and invacom c-120 lnb = All nilesat transponder horizontal & vertical 24/7 and in the rain
