Title: linkstar dvb s2 problem
Post by olaniyanjide on May 13th, 2008 at 12:44am
I have a dvb s2 linkstar modem on 2 week old site. This modem was working  until last week. Initially i was unable to get a lock on AMC12 so i changed the LNB. When i plugged the LNB all the indicators on the modem were on(power, alarm, odu and satellite)continously. When i unplugged the tx and rx cables there was no change, all the indicators were still on. I restarted the modem on many occasions but stil didnt work.
Can anybody help me out

This sounds bad, like a possible permanent fault. The modem is not completing its power on self test ( POST) sequence.

Power the modem off.

Disconnect the two coax cables and the ethernet cable.

Power the modem on and see if the POST completes normally.

Warning: Power the modem off before connecting or disconnecting the LNB or BUC coax cables.  Reason: The power surge may cause permanent damage.

Warning: Make sure the RX coax cable goes to the LNB and the transmit coax cable goes to the BUC. Reason: Getting RX cable connected to the BUC or getting the LNB cable short circuited will cause permanent damage to the modem.

During antenna pointing I recommend having only the receive cable connected and the transmit cable not connected anywhere at all.    With the power off, join up the receive cable at each end from the small receive LNB device to the RX socket on the modem. Once you have exactly centered the beam on the satellite and have finished antenna alignment, then power off and connect up the transmit BUC cable.  Power on while phoning the hub.

Best regards, Eric.
