Title: Need help SEATEL antenna + 3100 mobile
Post by dozor on Sep 23rd, 2008 at 3:07pm
Dear all,
How can I communicate seatel antenna (marine) with 3100 modem? 3100 - mobile (input NMEA). Rx lock. Tx - off. NMEA from controller via NMEA port to consol 3100 modem.

From the above this looks like a GPS problem, if no GPS is present no TX will go on unless you have made this a static site

Other problems can be blockage zones on the antenna (also possible bad wiring causing a mute into the idirect modem)

is there GPS on this system?

Does the Seatel have GPS onboard?  Or are you providing GPS from an external source...say a Garmin?

Gps could be the problem. Or the POL of the antenna. Correct me, green led on the tx would not indicate that the buc is transmitting.

try thru telnet the command for gps

iDS Release 7.0.0.x to 7.0.1.2-- TX is muted on the Mobile Remote if the look angle(elevation) for the antenna is below 10 degrees.
Details:
By default, for all Mobile Remotes with GPS input, if the antenna look angle ( elevation) is below 10 Degrees , the GPS input is ignored and TX is muted. On the console you will see a message [ MUTED] . This will prevent the remote from acquiring into the network.
Resolution:
In a future release this default behavior will be changed to not perform this check.
Workaround:
Currently, the workaround is to apply a custom key on the remote side configuration of the remote, to disable this check. The Custom key is as follows: [SATELLITE] min_look_angle = 0.0
I have look anagle = 10 Degrees .

iDS 8.X allows you to set the (mute) threshold of 10 degrees to zero.
