I agree the customer needs to know the name/orbit location of the satellite for which they have bought service.  They must also be told, by the satellite ISP, the name of the polarisation for the downlink (Horizontal or Vertical)

They also need to get a single long line of text from the satellite internet service provider to type into the LinkStar modem to configure it with carrier frequency and symbol rate etc. The local oscillator frequency of the LNB must be suitable for the satellite downlink frequency and the L band tuning range of the modem, so the type and model number of the LNB must be known to the ISP - and must be the correct model.

The most important advice is to never get the two coax cables crossed over and always to have the mains power off before connecting or disconnecting the coax cables.

After setting the polarisation starting position, then applying the polarisation adjustment angle and setting the elevation, swing to find the satellite.  The RX LED will start flashing green and you can peak up perfectly well using the QPSK BER count.

A DVB satellite TV receiver and a TV is optional. I would not use a satellite TV receiver, since the LinkStar modem on its own does a good job of correctly identifing the downlink carrier and the QPSKBER readout (do rep tcmp)is a good guide to peaking up the pointing.

Best regards, Eric.

Dear Sir,

I can arrange that one of our agents, located in Iraq, can visit your camp and install the equipment for you.

Just for your information, we operate and provide LinkStar DVB-S2 services on satellite Express AM22 and we have activated many sites in Iraq.

If you are interested in the above, please send me an email at kaplanis@kbi-greece.com.

Thanks for your patience.

Take care.
