Title: Can I use existing Sat dish?
Post by glossterline on Dec 1st, 2008 at 12:24pm
Good morning everyone.  I am new to this forum - and to the topic!  I am sure that the following question has been asked but I did not see a FAQ section.
I have moved to a house equipped with a Sky satellite dish.  I do not subscribe to Sky, and I do not want to.  I have been told that I can buy a decoder to connect up to the Sky dish to receive the standard freeview TV channels (BBC1, BBC2, ITV etc).  My informant mentioned 'Dream box'.
Can I do this? Is it legal? Is it easy?
Many thanks,

Les

First check that you have a clear line of sight to 28.2 deg east orbit position using this: satellite dish pointing - UK and Ireland

Best regards, Eric.
