Title: Rx Align
Post by satnew on Jan 1st, 2009 at 9:01pm
Hi,

I'm kinda new to this site but i find it very useful and the members are very helpful.
I am planning to set up a vsat, i am not well experienced though. My question is, can i align the dish from the LNB, with the BUC literally not connected? The portion of the OMT for the BUC iwill be left open.
 Please help.

Thanks and best regards to all

In other words, you want to set up a receive-only configuration. Correct? If yes, I see no problem - other than a recommendation to block off the open port, to keep out moisture/dirt/insects.

Not Actually. It's just that the BUC is not available yet.
Dude you're so prompt. Don't you guys take holidays?
You are very helpful :-)

tnx

Provided you protect temporarily unused ports and connectors, it's perfectly ok to do as much work as you have parts for. In fact, most consumer grade VSAT modems won't transmit until they detect a receive signal anyway. So if you want to build the receive half now - and the transmit half later - no harm done.
