Post by alalim00 on Feb 12th, 2009 at 11:26am
i need help guys:
i am using idirect 3000 series with huges 1.2 m dish. my problem start when we moved to new location (2mile away) and i had to take the new equipments and install it there .and the installation go so easy  and i am able to find the carier signal (17 volt) .and the rx LED go solid green very quickly but we had very difficult time to be in the network and the vsat keep disconnecting from the network.i contact my service provider and they tell me to check my cables because i had low TX power (-8 dB m). so i try to rearrange the antenna but that didnot help and now the RX is solid green but the Vsat cannot join the network . so does any body have an idea  of what is going on.

With the mains power turned off, check your cables again, particularly the transmit cable.  The centre wire pin of the F connector should be bright copper colour with no corrosion.  The pin should stick out 1.5mm proud of the rim.  The outer of the plug must make good contact to the braid at each end.  When plugged in the pin must go properly into the hole and not push back the cable itself.  If in doubt strip the cable back 6 inches and view for any corrosion and then re-terminate once you have got to clean uncorroded cable.

Regarding dish pointing you may still be badly pointed on transmit, even with 17 volts on receive.   The transmit beam is narrower than the receive beam and you need to centre the receive beam perfectly.  This will normally involve moving off, down to say exactly 16 volts on each side and then marking these points and moving the dish mechanically to the middle.  It usually takes far longer to peak up than to find the satellite.

Best regards, Eric.

sometimes when you move your modem to a new location it will not not come to the network so try reloading the option file
