Post by ensonaa on Mar 24th, 2009 at 8:20am
Hi,
I would like to know, whether this Insat2E signals are available in Amman, Jordan, and what size of dish i need to get this C band satellite? 2.0meter dish is enough?

My latitude is = 31.57 and Longitude = 35.52.

The satellite is at 83 degrees East

what will be my Azimuth (in Magnetic Compass - North)and Elevation, If i can receive signals from this Sat?

what is the difference between wide beam and zone beam?
i searched out and find that wide beam is available at amman, in my location

See here https://www.lyngsat.com/in83.html for INSAT TV programmes, beam coverages and suggested dish sizes.  You need to click on Beam to see the coverage maps where the suggested dish sizes are listed also.

See here for Satellite dish pointing in Iraq area.  Select the 83E satellite option and using your mouse drag the map sideways to centre it on Amman, Jordan. Enlarge to see your house.  The blue line shows which way to point your dish.  Set the polarisation angle by rotating the LNB/Feed in its yoke.

Best regards, Eric.

Hi Eric

I didnt understand the dish size calculation from there. in the beam picture, they only gave number 36, for which  160-200cm dish is ok.

but how can i identify, what number is for my place - jordan?

It will in the junction point of  33N/37E.

The number will be reduced to 30 or increased to 40 at that point?

The 36 dBW EIRP refers to the beam edge.

The signal level within the beam is normally higher.  Without a better map with proper contour lines it is not possible to say what the level will be at any particular point.  Shaped satellite beams are often designed to give moderately flat power level all across the beam with a sharp taper rounde the edges.  Simple satellite beams tend to have a more rounded shape with the middle about 4 dB higher than the nominal beam edge.

39 dBW is twice the power of 36 dBW.

Best regards, Eric.
