Ronald

Where is your teleport, what satellite is used, what frequency and what beam coverage(s).

Have you any experience operating with maritime mobile customers and "iDirect's Automatic Beam Switching" ?

Do you have coverage also into the Caribbean and Mediterranean ?

Best regards, Eric.

In regards to the auto beamswitching, iDirect uses the openAmip protocol and a map server at the iDirect hub.  The modem will be provisioned as a mobile unit and an external GPS will be connected to the modem.  The modem will provide GPS location to the iDirect hub on an interval.  The modem provisioning file will have multiple satellites defined and the hub can direct it to switch to another hub when the map server determines you are nearing the edge of a satellite's footprint.  I think the modem still has to reboot to swap satellites, but it will command the antenna to point to the new satellite before rebooting.

Someone wanted service in 2009.  I just passed on the information to help them.  I can't remember now who they were and have know idea if they are still looking.

If you can provide maritime Ku band VSAT service for transatlantic service you are welcome to say so here so that people looking for such service now, know where to ask.

If you can explain fully how your service works with some educational text such as how iDirect beam switching works, how your ship antennas point at the satellite(s) etc this would be beneficial to all.  You may include images here of your hub and your ship terminals and the antenna pointing mechanisms and ship board equipment racks.

Best regards, Eric.
