Title: Incompatible LNB in iDirect HUB
Post by was2006 on Sep 9th, 2009 at 5:36am
Hi,

At the moment we are using NJR2754HH DRO LNB with our remote satellite terminals. We have a plan on changing HUB service provider and new provider says that there is no option to assign my LNB type on his iDirect 5IF HUB chasis. Are there any compatible LNB types for that.

Pls. advice.

Regards,

Was

"Ku band" is rather wide, 10.7 - 12.75 GHz, and several different LNBs are needed, each covering a section of the band.

Each type has a different local oscillator frequency, used to downconvert the satellite frequency into the L band frequency within the cable to the modem.

10.95-11.7   LO=10 GHz       NJR2784
11.7-12.2     LO=10.75 GHz  NJR2744
12.25-12.75 LO=11.3 GHz    NJR2754

More details of NJR LNBs

Ask your new service provider what type LNB is required to work with their service.  The type will depend on their outlink carrier frequency.

Your existing LNB NJR2754  is only suitable for downlink carriers in the range 12.25 - 12.75 GHz.

Best regards, Eric.

Tell your hub operator to to build your LNB from scratch in the the LNB section of the Remote RFT in iBuilder.  Tell him to right click, and add a new LNB (with your specs).   He will need to know the stability of your LNB when he builds one.

In addition to the frequency range issue, there is another factor to be considered:
If the forward carrier has low data rate, the remote IDU may not be able to lock on the carrier with DRO LNB . In this case PLL LNB is required.

I will agree/concur with that.
