Title: S2a Modem Version ISSUEs
Post by AOGreen on Apr 23rd, 2010 at 6:10pm
Dear Eric,

I have a problem with my modem not saving /downloading SW/FW

The modem was on C band plateform.

I now want to use it on a Ku plateform. The modem cant sync.

The modem is not locked. If I start CW my carrier can be seen.

I need to somehow force the sw/fw to download into the modem and be saved in the modem.

The modem was pointint to NSS10 (AMC12)
now
IS1R (Pas1R)

can I force the new satellite download and save it? if so, how?

Regard

Green

Hi Eric,
Cont'd........

The old SW and FW

lmep

0x34440 SW rcst6-2.3S2A.0300.term.exe (PE) rcst6-2.3S2A.0101.term.exe ()

0x34440 FW rcst6.17060308L.xilinx.dat () rcst6.15090109L.xilinx.dat (PE)

.................................................

According to the new ISP the SW is to change to

0x34440 SW rcst6-3.3S2A.0400.term.exe (PE) rcst6-2.3S2A.0101.term.exe ()

I initially thought is was bad modem. but I have tried 3 modems (not new) and I still have the same problem.

The modems I tried where all on C band platform. now I need to used the modem on Ku and on another satellite. you input will be highly appreciated

Tell your service provider hub about this problem and ask them to help.  If they don't know what to do they need contact ViaSat tech support for this unusual problem.

I'm not sure what you mean by "can't sync".  If your modems lock well to the outlink carrier, the hub should be able to control your modem, knowing its MAC address.

If the hub can make your modem transmit CW, then at least the BUC is working normally and the CW frequency is correctly controllable (presumably your BUC is 13050 MHz LO freq).

In the old C band mode the BUC LO might have been 5150 MHz and the modem output frequency calculation and modulation mode would have been set to inverted.

Maybe the hub need to set your burst transmit frequency calculation and modulation mode to normal (for Ku band) rather than inverted (for C band).

If by "can't sync" you are referring to failure to achieve oulink carrier lock then check with the hub that they have given you the correct config string to type in.
Example: save -t -60 -c 0x1029 -f 1250000 -pcr 0x365 -pop Ox11e0004 -o 1 -s 27500000

Best regards, Eric.
