Title: High Latency-Remote Based
Post by vierchowood on Nov 11th, 2010 at 6:36am
hi all,

please, give an eye to this QoS configuration:

I have a VNO inroute group with 10 remotes, configurated in "remote base" mode.
CIR and MIR enabled in 9 of them, instead the last one (modem #10) has no CIR and MIR flagged.

When all modems are making IP traffic (w/o filling the allocated bandwith), the latency of modem becomes high (until 1800 s), and sometimes it goes out of network.
If I set CIR and MIR on this modem, i don't see any issue.

Can you please explain me why we got a latency issue when simply i don't set CIR/MIR?

When your remotes are passing IP traffic and you are NOT reaching the Info Rate of your carrier (as you mentioned), I recommend that you remain cognizant of the slot availability in your upstream carriers (all inbound carriers associated with your inroute group).  My guess is that you are simply out of time slots...thus causing the 1 customer to wait to pass his traffic.  In case you are wondering, Yes, you can run out of timeslots before your reach the IP Data rate of your upstream carrier...it is actually quite common in networks that are not optimized properly...esp in voice networks with lots of little UDP packets.
