Title: Eurobird 9 degrees East Post by MGB2000X on Sep 26th, 2011 at 1:09pm
Hi everyone,
Complete noob here. We've got a satellite that currently points 13 degrees East for Hotbird. We'd like to redirect it so we can receive 9E Eurobird. My lat and long are: Lat = 52 degrees, 59.88 minutes North Long = 0 degrees, 23.70 minutes West went on https://www.satsig.net/maps/lat-long-finder.htm and it told me that to be receiving 13E Hotbird we must currently have the satellite pointing: Beam elevation= 28.2, Azimuth= 165.9 (magnetic compass), Polarisation= -9.9 and to receive 9E Eurobird we Beam elevation= 28.8, Azimuth= 170.8 (magnetic compass), Polarisation= -7.0 Could someone explain in detail what I have to do please? specifically increasing beam elevation, azimuth and polarisation. |

Note the current az, el and pol angles. Mark or scratch the scales, accurately measure the adjusters etc. Mark the flats on the nuts if appropriate. Do close up photographs of the adjusters if possible. This means you will be able to get back to the starting satellite at 13E, if you get lost.
To get to 9E satellite... Elevation: Go up by 0.6 deg. Azimuth: Go right 4.9 deg (as viewed facing forwards towards the satellite in the sky) Polarisation: Go clockwise 2.9 deg (as viewed facing forwards towards the satellite in the sky) When you find it, peak up. Best regards, Eric. |

Is it the dish or the LNB that I need to adjust? up, right and clock wise
From the looks of the mounting it would be the dish. |

The dish needs repointing in azimuth and elevation.
The LNB polarisation also needs adjusting, clockwise by 2.9 deg (as viewed facing forwards towards the satellite in the sky) Best regards, Eric |
