Title: Remote Taking too long to acquire into the network
Post by dhrisht on May 7th, 2012 at 7:45pm
Hello Team,

We have below network config:

Outbound:
Modulation: ACM
Error Correction: LDPC BCH
Symbol Rate: 144400 Ksym
FEC Blocks per Frame: 1800
Frame Lenght: 125 ms

Inbound:
Modulation: QPSK
Error Correction: 2D 16s-170bytes (3/4)
Symbol Rate: 450 ksym
Acquisition Aperture: 773 sym
Traffic Slot: 57

On outbound, provider has given only 1024 Kbps.

We have approx 73 remotes in the network but all remains down except 3 sites are up. Problem is that remote takes 8 to 10 minutes to acquire into the network.

I would like to know how long remotes should take to acquire and how can i calculate?

Thanks & Regard,

Dhrisht

After the modem is fully booted up, you should see your modem begin aquisition after just a few sweeps, You will see a remote_hello cmd followed by power adjustments coming in from the Hub. Never actually timed it but it should be way less than 8 minutes (more like 2-3 minutes total - including boot process)
What model/type LNB's are you running? And are you sure the Geo's are good on the remotes that are not bursting into the net?
