Title: Plotting satellite beam coverages
Post by Eric Johnston on Jul 12th, 2013 at 10:31am
If anyone is interested in playing with possible beam coverages from various orbit positions I've made a page that will plot circular or elliptical beams.
https://www.satsig.net/satellite/satellite-beam-design.htm
Input the satellite orbit location and the beam centre lat/long and diameters and it will hopefully draw the coverage.
Just for fun/educational !

Best regards, Eric.

Title: Re: Plotting satellite beam coverages - Astra Ku band UK beam
Post by Admin1 on Oct 3rd, 2014 at 6:29pm
There has been some debate recently about an Astra Ku band beam which is now providing good TV coverage of the UK, but poor coverage of southern France and Spain.
No one seems to know how many dB down is the beam over, say, Toulouse.
I was trying to help someone and made him a page https://www.satsig.net/astra/astra-2e-uk-ku-beam-coverage.htm which draws multiple beam contours at 1 dB intervals.
