Can someone please help me with how to get lock on AMC12 (skyvision) network satellite?

I am located in North-East of Nigeria, Latitude of 9.23, Longitude of 12.53 which gives me the azimuth of 262.314 with elevation of 31.583.

Guy, what would me my true elevation? I would also want to know the LO Frequency to use from the sat tracking, cus i was using 1150 but can not get lock.

Try and help me out guys.

Thanks

According to West Africa satellite Dish pointing your pointing details are:
Elevation 32 deg
Azimuth 264 deg (magnetic compass)
Polarisation +78 deg.

The Skyvision carrier is at 4000 MHz Horizontal.

Regarding polarisation:   First set your LNB rotation so that it is true Horizontal polarisation.  The broad faces of the rectangular LNB input waveguide will be on either side.  Second: Adjust the angle.  While facing towards the satellite turn the feed/LNB clockwise by +78 deg.

Regarding tuning:  Your LNB local oscillator LO frequency is probably 5150 MHz.  The frequency of the wanted carrier in the cable will therefore be 5150 - 4000 = 1150 MHz.  (You are correct)   If there is a "spectrum inverted" option in the modem configuration then tick it.  Lyngsat shows the symbol rate at 26662 ksps and the FEC as 7/8

Best regards, Eric.

Thank you very much Eric, I think this will work fine...

I will update you as soon as I am done with it (alignment & pointing).

Have a nice day.
