Mauritius - SAT Internet - NEED ADVICE

As the local ISPs only give promises ("All Mauritius will have a complete wireless coverage") or excuses ("3.7 km loop is too long to deliver ADSL" - after 3 years ADSL with download speeds of up to 62 (!) Kb/s with a 512 kb connection....), I'm now looking for a reliable, affordable solution, with download speed of 512 or higher.

As I don't know anything about SAT internet and it's possibilities, I need some advice about equipment, suppliers etc.
All advices welcome.

I  don't know but I've heard that you can do it thru a 1.2m dish pointed to Eutelsat W3A at 7deg E. I've never heard that somebody has been able to do it in Mauritius.
I believe the local ISPs have done what hey could up to now. You are lucky to get that download speed. Are you a business or private home.
I do not know what will the cost for the investment + the monthly payment. other possibilities: go for higher ADSL rates.
