We are having 5 remote VSAT links operational & daily getting complaints from all the end users that application performance is very poor on VSAT. Application is Siebel & using through citrix platform. Bandwidth utilization is normal. Average ping response is 800-900ms but maximum ping response goes beyond 2000ms & sometimes its 8000-10000ms through extended ping. How much max response should we get on VSAT ? What can be done so that application will work in normal speed on VSAT ? Is there any utility which tune up application on VSAT ? How to troubleshoot the application performance issue on VSAT ? Please help me...

well man can you tell me the weather condition is also remain normal when the ping delay become higher. u said that you ping means you are using sort of IP trafic. if you can decrese you TTL of pecket then try it. or use UDcast server.
if need more contact me on ali.imran@wateen.com or call me on 92-321-4496252

correct, first we have to verify that we have the normal signal level (EbNo and EsNo), then perhaps u can try to gave them DA acces mode, since RA acces mode will have high ping. theres so many posibilities for this kind..

just makesure ping time form the HUB is on normal condition, and also traceroute step by step.

I suggest you contact Citrix and Gilat for advice.

Searching Google for vsat citrix gives several leads. I found this: https://support.citrix.com/servlet/KbServlet/download/2131-102-10532/wWAN_Optimi
zation_WP_3.pdf

Make sure whatever advice you follow applies to your specific hardware and software combinations.

Hi Eric,

Thank you for the nice reply. I have contacted Gilat and generlly one of the methode to increase the citrix performance is by reduce the resolution to the least resolution. (which I have planned to try on next monday)

thank you,

Hi

Have you checked and count your TCP sessions?
