Please tell us the story behind this install and show us a picture of it.

Where are you doing the install ?
Where is your office ?
How did you travel to the site ?
What was the weather like ?
Why does the customer want the system ?
What will he do with it ?
What price option FAP limit has he selected to start with ?
Who is your installer ?
Picture of him, his van, ladder etc ?
How does he manage to point the dish ?
What test gear does he have ?
What problems has he had and how did he resolve them ?

We appreciate interesting information - not spam advertising.

Best regards, Eric.

Hi there.  To answer your questions:-

Where are you doing the install ? The Algarve, Portugal.  Started with our own install at home and have progressed to installing for cleints now.  Happy to work further afield if required.

Where is your office ? In the mountains above Tavira, about 30-45 minutes from Faro airport.

How did you travel to the site ? By car mostly.

What was the weather like ? Beautiful at the moment, but a bit humid as the day progresses.  Mostly clear skies.

Why does the customer want the system ? No landlines up here so no ADSL, radio phone internet is not good and 'dongle' opions offered by Vodafone, Optimus, TMN, etc do not provide sufficient internet speed, ease of use, wifi networking capability or instant access.  Also no VOIP option other than Skype which is very very slow.

What will he do with it ? Client regularly surfs the web, and also runs a small business from his home.  I also use our system for other business and VPN works perfectly.  Have had 3 computers connected at one time with no change in performance.  Wireless router installed again without issue.

What price option FAP limit has he selected to start with ? Same as us - the Bronze package - 2GB.

Who is your installer ? Ourselves, Broadband-Algarve.  Installed our own dish and modem as well.

Picture of him, his van, ladder etc ? To follow if you don't mind the 'mug-shots'.

How does he manage to point the dish ? Purchased a Horizon Satellite Finder - makes the install very easy.  Took settings from our own dish and also from online lookup wesbite.  Use a GPS to ensure longitude and latitude are correct and accurate.

What test gear does he have ? Satellite Finder has a cable checker.  Also checked the Modem using our own 'working' dish and connection.  GPS locator.  Voltage tester also used to check cable voltage.

What problems has he had and how did he resolve them ?   One client site was in the middle of trees and a couple of hills also obsured the site.  Had to lift the dish a bit higher to get a clear line of site.  Made the install a bit more complicated.  Also exasperated by the fact that authenication page not working properly - now resolved.

Hope this all helps.

Brilliant.  Many thanks for the extra text.  Exactly what we appreciate here in this forum.

Pictures are welcome. You can either send them to me and I will edit and insert them (send to eric@satsig.net and give the forum entry where they should go), or you can insert the images yourself.  If you want to do it yourself first edit the image and compress down to 10 - 20k bytes since many visitors to this site are still on slow dial up lines.  Then save the image somewhere on a server.  There are some public ones, also your own web site.  Note the url of the image.  Then, when you write your message, insert the image like so:
(img)https://w ww.example.com/images/picture-of-me-working.jpg(/img)   Use square brackets, not rounded ones.

I have activated the link to your web site in your initial posting higher up.

Best regards, Eric.

Cheers Eric.  And thanks for the info too.  Will try and get some pics over the weekend and send on to you or post myself.
Hoping to do a few more installs soon so again will upload the pics.
