Does anybody know if the Ku system will still work after the launch of the new satellite?

Do you know how long Eutelsat/Skylogic will continue operate a Tooway Ku band service ?

If Eutelsat/Skylogic close down the Ku band Tooway service, customers would be able to retain their antenna system (Ku band LNB/BUC/Feed/antenna) and  replace the Surfbeam modem with an iDirect modem or similar and start again on any Ku band satellite with iDirect, or other, service.

Alternatively could the Ku band antenna system be replaced with the Ka band version, retaining the Surfbeam modem with some software update perhaps ? I note that the new Ka-SAT will have very many spot beams and covers all Europe and beyond.

Customers with unlocked iDirect modem do have the opportunity to change service providers as there are multiple iDirect networks available.

Best regards, Eric.

Thanks for the replies, Eric your 1st sentence was exactly what i was trying to ask but your wording was much better than mine Smiley. I want a tooway system as i have very limited service here in Bulgaria but have been told many different answers to my question, however what is consistent is that if existing tooway customers want the new 10Mbs speed they will have to buy new equipment, personally i can cope with the old 3.6Mbs speed  as long as it will continue to work but i will not buy a system that will no longer work after a year or so.

Hi Mike,

We were assured of continuing current Tooway service (so called Pre-Ka-Sat) up to satellite end of life (minimum 2015). It was done by our Skylogic regional manager.

If you need any type of Tooway support services in Bulgaria you can find us at https://visat.bg/
