I have recently had a Tooway satellite dish installed which I am using with the Tooway modem, and a Belkin router. I am running Mac OS 10.6. I find that the speed at which I can get pages up on the internet is extremely slow, typically taking 30 seconds or longer. This is both wired or wireless, and using Safari or GoogleChrome. A friend's laptop operates considerably faster than this using my modem wirelessly.

Has anyone any idea as to why it is so slow or what I could do to speed it up?

Connect your computer "direct" to the satellite modem and send us a speedtest www.speedtest.net

Did you checked your usage statistics ? Speeds slows down when you pass your limits.

Unfortunately the satellite has been down this afternoon and evening so have been unable to perform a recent test, but typically it comes out as 3.0 - 3.6mbps using speedtest.net.
Usage is fine - well within current limit.
