Iphone to Satellite Phone

I read a blog recently saying you can now convert your iPhone, and perhaps, even your android into a satellite phone. The only catch is that the new application costs around $12,500. But the technology behind the app is quite cool. I'm going to look for it again, since I can't seem to find it.

Anyways, given the price, I think Iridium sat phone is still the better option. Just my 2 cents of course. It just won't have the apple apps. :(
