Hi all,
I performed several Downstream UDP test by iperf, in order to evaluate the max bandwidth for an evolution X3 satmodem.
The max value registred is about 25 Mbps.

The iDirect Spec. Sheet reports:

Max. Info Rate: 150 Mbps
Max. Remote IP Data Rate: 29 Mbps
https://www.idirect.net/~/media/Files/Spec%20Sheets/January%202013/Spec-Sheet-Ev...

What does it means? What is the real limit?
Many thanks in advance.

Regards

Hi,

Are you running this on a network which has an information rate of 150Mbps? Or just simply bench testing with a PC plugged into the modem?

Where are you running the iperf sessions from? NMS and the Remote?

Also if running over a network you will need to make sure that you are running using the maximum MODCOD for the network.

I would be interested to see the results of the testing as I have never gone up to that rate before.

Also some other things to check:
-CPU usage
-TCP/UDP sessions
-bottlenecks in the testing equipment

Hi Fluffymassive,

I am a mrninni co-worker.
I confirm that the network has a information rate of 33823 Kbps.
We are running the iperf server session on the PC plugged into the modem . This modem is using the maximum MODCOD for the net.

Hi,

Here I am with the answers to your questions:

The FWD carrier allows a rate higher than 25 Mbps (about 34 Mbps) so no limitations are present. The satmodem was able to use the nominal MODCOD (or better).

The iperf session (UDP) has been launched from a PC directly connected to the satmodem, to an our internal server.

I'd like to understand better the iDirect Spec. Sheet details:

Max. Info Rate: 150 Mbps
Max. Remote IP Data Rate: 29 Mbps
https://www.idirect.net/~/media/Files/Spec%20Sheets/January%202013/Spec-Sheet-Ev...

What value should I consider?
Many thanks
