Hi,

To build your VSAT network, i think first, you need to precise  the  use of your network(applications) to determine the type of technology you should deploy it,  shared BandWidth there is DVB-S2/MT-FDMA  or   dedicated BW there is SCPC ...

for shared BW there are differents manufacturers iDirect, Hughes, Gilat...and if you have small number of remote VSAT you can discuss  with the manufacturer(for example in iDirect there is a small hub for 15 remotes Model 10115 Satellite Hub)

for dedicated BW SCPC, you can use Comtech equipements: CDM- 750 and  Quad CDD-564.

the second step is to determine  the RF equipements by contacting your chosen satellite operator.
...

Best Regards,
Hafid

Hi,
you can request the service from  VSAT provider without investing in the HUB.
but  if you want to make your own network, the perfect solution for video transmission is to use SCPC technology, the solution Architecture  for  one central site and 3 remote sites:

...

For the RF(Antennas,BUC, LNB) equipments, you should make the Link Budget in coordination with the satellite operator, and take into account your available equipements.

BRs,
Hafid

It is perhaps worth noting that in the Comtech SCPC solution shown above that there is no need for an expensive Hub software licence as all the initial set up configuration may be done manually.

If the remote sites transmit their video, with only one site uplinking at any time, then there will be big savings in transponder lease costs, but someone will need to supervise the operation so that only one site transmits at any time.

Can a similar network be configured using iDirect 5000 series SCPC modems, without a hub equipment or licence costs?
