pointing dish in Mexico
« on: 10. Aug 2004 at 17:25 »

Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong.  I have a place in Mexico and I brought a receiver, dish, & LNB from my home in the US (New England).  I cannot seem to find the signal for my satellite provider and am unsure if I am using the correct elevation and azimuth.  My provider will not assist me, so I am left to my own devices.  I have got the Longitude and Latitude coordinates and used the azimuth and elevation calculator at http://www.satsig.net/ssazelm.htm for readings but do not know if I have done so correctly.

Who is your provider, and to which satellite/transponder are you assigned. I assume that's the one you're attempting to re-access from Mexico. Yes?

Also, what is the latitude and longitude of your Mexican location? I need this info to determine whether you're still within the satellite's footprint (coverage area)

I have installed one in Guadalajara, without any problem at all. I found good quality of signal in Satmex, and G3.
You require to know your GPS position, and what satellite are you assigned.

Good luck
