The deal allows Red Technologies, a satellite broadband service provider specialist, to manufacture GuardianBox on an OEM basis for Latin America and also provides ongoing licensing revenues to Bridge Broadband for all GuardianBoxes operated in the region. “This is great news from two perspectives,” comments Keith Fergie, general manager of Bridge Broadband Services. “First is that it’s a strong endorsement of the product and second is that it gives us a real boost as we’re looking to capitalise on the need for easy to use and effective internet security with the latest generation of GuardianBox products. Eduardo Cuevas of Red Technologies commented, “Satellite broadband is really important outside of the larger cities here, both for business and education here. Guardianbox not only ensures that the connection and users are secure but manages access to the internet to make the most of the available bandwidth. There’s great potential here for that type of solution and we’re looking forward to a long working relationship with Bridge Broadband Services.” Red Technologies is a VSAT satellite and VoIP service provider in Guatemala, using both HNS Direcway and ViaSat Linkstar technology. They also distribute Vistar Datacom GlobalWave satellite data communications terminals. The GlobalWave system provides wireless tracking and two-way communications for transportation and fixed-asset monitoring. Red Technologies is owned by Consumer Electronic AG, Germany.
