Skycasters AMC-6  Ku band beam coverage area (North America, Mexico and Caribbean)

The AMC-6 satellite is located at 72 deg west orbit longitude,  approx due south of  Connecticut and Dominican Republic.  For most places in the US the satellite is towards the south east.

Launch date 22 Oct 2000.

Ku band:  24 x 36 MHz transponders, each 110 watt  Coverage map shows downlink power (eirp) in dBW per transponder operating at saturation.

Satellite transponder frequencies:  Ku band 14-14.5, 11.7-12.2, beacon 12198 H

This is a satellite with a high level of redundancy (spare on board amplifiers etc) with the aim of a 15 year operational lifetime before replacement.  It has fuel for 15 years station-keeping.

Please note that each 1 dB reduction in beam eirp contour level requires a dish 1.12 times larger diameter.  Each 3 dB reduction requires a dish 1.41 times larger in diameter. 10 dB reduction requires a dish 3.15 times larger in diameter.
