You need to click on the map after selecting the satellite in order for the satellite TV or VSAT dish aiming calculations to change |
Instructions for satellite TV and VSAT users: Myanmar, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and in surrounding area.First choose your wanted satellite in the box at the lower left. Asiasat at 122 East longitude is just an example. There are further Asiasat satellites at 105.5 and 100.5 orbit longitude. Select which AsiaSat satellite you want - or any other satellite such as Indostar, Palapa, KoreaSat etc. Put your mouse cursor at your location and double click or
just click and drag the map to the middle. The map
display will move so that the selected point is in the centre. The latitude
and longitude of the centre of the map is then shown below the map, together
with your satellite dish pointing angles: azimuth, elevation and
polarisation (feed or LNB rotation). Dish pointing (Azimuth and elevation - sideways and up/down movement
mount): For the sideways azimuth bearing use a magnetic compass or just think where the sun is and the time of day and boldly swing the dish sideways. You should find the satellite on the first swing, then spend half an hour peaking up. Peaking up is really important for long term service quality and minimum outage time during rain fades. Dish pointing (Polar mount): Navigation: Satellite TV dish aiming angles |
Detailed town names and roads are not yet shown in Myanmar, Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia, Malaysia, Brunei, Timor, Papua New Guinea and Philippines and other countries. If you want a marker put in for your town please email me. Thailand, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and Singapore have good road, town and city maps.
If you are interested in connecting to the internet via satellite from some remote place where you cant get good phone line (ADSL) or cable modem connection then go here: satellite broadband (satellite internet access) in Asia where I have put details of some suggested satellite broadband service providers.
Disclaimer and Safety Warning: The results of this page may be in error, The latitude and longitude are for satellite TV and VSAT satellite communications dish pointing purposes and are not intended for the blind navigation of aircraft, ship or other vehicle purposes. Dish pointing angles may be wrong. Magnetic azimuth bearings are approximate and are not available in the the polar regions. Use is entirely at your own risk. Apply common sense and don't believe every number that comes out of a computer system. Take care with satellite dish pointing to not injure others by dropping tools or hurting yourself by falling down. Latitude and longitude may not be accurate. Use GPS as an alternative.
