"Today Kazakhstan is home to the Soviet-built Baikonur space-vehicle launch
site, the world's largest, which it leases to Russia. Together with Russia there
has been drawn up several Intergovernmental Agreements on Space Co-operation.
Kazakhstan recently agreed with Russia to play a role in future space projects
and Kazakhstan intends to spend US$345 million (euro280
million) on its first Space Program. The Program involves launching the
country's first Satellite and building together with Russia a
take-off site for a new Russian space launch vehicle. We believe that Kazakhstan
should be a space power"
