SATLYNX is a two-way European satellite broadband internet service provider combining the talents of SES GLOBAL, Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd and Alcatel Space.

Satlynx have teamed up with France Telecom to provide two-way satellite-based services to France Telecom customers and a number of terminals have been set up successfully in France. The terminals will be particularly attractive in remote places where telephone line ADSL and cable TV modems don't reach.

The use of satellite internet terminals will benefit business in rural areas and encourage economic development in the regions and hopefully create or safeguard jobs. 

Businesses with remotely located branches and regional offices have the opportunity to link-up to wide area networks.   Maybe some of the terminals will be shared in the local communities to allow local individuals and small businesses to connect using licence free radio wireless LAN techniques.
