Two-way satellite internet in the Middle East from Thuraya.pl

Since 1 June 2004 english.thuraya.pl were offering NSS-6 satellite links with transponders covering the whole Middle East region, the former Soviet Union countries to Northwest Africa.

Connectivity is established via a ViaSat Linkstar hub, so universal DVB-RCS satellite modems can be used.

After service activation, data from your network or your computer will be transferred to transponders of the NSS-6 satellite. High-gain uplink performance enables the use of small uplink antennas.

The service includes 24h network monitoring in satellite company centres. Guaranteed uptime is 99.5% a year.

Coverage includes the following countries: Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Israel, Palestine, Cyprus, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Yemen, Oman, Eritrea, Djibouti, Somalia, Ethiopia, Kuwait and any island in the Persian Gulf.

The web site name appears to be no longer working so link deleted for the time being.

NewSkies NSS6 Middle East satellite internet beam coverage pattern with elevation and eirp contour lines

The three elevation contour lines on the left refer to 0 deg, 5 deg and 10 deg elevation angles. Operation should be above 10 degrees elevation for Ku band operation to avoid undue tropospheric scintillation and rain attenuation.
