We are interested to know how your requests are routed to this web site server, located in London, UK.  The process can be investigated using the dos function tracert (means traceroute)

Located around the globe are a number of trace route servers that you can activate remotely.  They then call you back and determine the route used which is hopefully representative of what happens for typical visitors to your web site from that area.

Some example results are given below:

Group 1:  These are automated - you can run them yourself to your own server

Trace route tracert from Argentina
Trace route tracert from Australia, NSW
Trace route tracert from New Zealand
Trace route tracert from Denmark
Trace route tracert from Finland
Trace route tracert from Iceland
Trace route tracert from Estonia
Trace route tracert from Canada
Trace route tracert from Latvia
Traceroute from India
Trace from the USA: Energy Science Berkley Lab California tracert server
Trace from the USA: Oregon tracert server

Group 2:  These are manually originated

Trace route tracert from Chelmsford, Essex, UK.
Trace route tracert from Holland
Trace route tracert from USA.
Trace route tracert from Ukraine

You can help add to this list by following the instructions below:-

Please open a COMMAND PROMPT or DOS box window and type: tracert www.satsig.net > c:/trace.txt , alternatively tracert 85.158.42.6 works as well.

Your computer will investigate the routing from you to our server and write its report to file c:/trace.txt on your disk. It may take several minutes to finish, so please be patient. Once you have the C:/ prompt back you may type type trace.txt and you will see how you routed to our server.  Type exit to get out of the DOS box window.

Send us an email eric@satsig.net with the trace.txt file as an attachment. You may then delete the file trace.txt if you wish.

Thank you for your contribution.  Many thanks, Eric.
