I have being having the urge to open an Internet Cafe here in Nigeria.  But the problem is the high cost of opening one.  One day I was Watching AIT Tele. on Technology the guest(name withheld) mention that there is no way the cost of  Internet access in Nigeria will come down but I am trying since that time(almost a year ago) to find just one company that will give me his services to render to Nigerians public at lower cost.

I have now found one MMTEL Group my prayer is that they will be the one I was looking for.  We are still on the process of how to make it work.

Prayer to almighty, is that I hope and pray after opening a cafe I will soon become an ISP so that i will provide the services to CAFE so that they provide service to our people at lower rate.

I hope my deal will materialise with MMTEL.

I did some prices this morning: 64k/64k US$1250 per month, 64k/128k US$1850 per month.

The prices refer to dedicated capacity which is suitable for internet café use, with VoIP traffic.  Any congestion is entirely under your own control and you can therefore truly offer your customers a reliable quality service.

From our experience, the cost is really increasing due to the increased demand.  The less room on the satellite, the higher the cost.  We offer coverage to Nigeria on NSS 7.  Equipment requirements are at least a 1.8m c band circular feed antenna, 5 watt BUC, DRO LNB, NetModem II, cables and connectors.  Monthly service starts at $604 for a 512/64 kbps burstable link.  The equipment package is $7502.

I want you to know that you are not alone as regard the current price of vsat and bandwidth services in Nigeria. I have been opportuned to work with different service providers and clients in Nigeria for over 7yrs now and i can tell you that the cheap ones are the problematic ones, this is not to say that you have to go out for an expensive system. I've been thinking about how to get the monthly costs down for DVB outlink type internet access systems.
At the moment the outlink carrier is designed for small dish reception (e.g. QPSK and 5/6 FEC). This fixes the cost per bit as high.   If we could allow customers to use larger receive dishes with half, quarter or eighth the monthly charges would people be interested?   New modulation methods are possible in which the modulation and coding for symbols in the carrier stream may vary - so symbols destined for large dish customers could be encoded in say 64QAM thus reducing their monthly space segement costs.  Such modulation can also be varied dynamically to match rain fading at the receive site.  Interesting - does anyone know of new VSAT equipment coming with such characteristics ?

Guys, I'm an African based out here in the USA and based on my experience and research out in Africa for a period of 4 Months researching on Satellite Internet, WIFI etc, VOIP, I have come to the conclusion that the best place to buy your bandwidth for any of u're related ISP , Services be it Shared or Dedicated should be done
directly from the USA. It won't come cheap as the say but getting it direct from the source will minimize the headache and stress I witnessed some Cyber operated going through during my trip to africa. By passing a reseller and going straight to a supplier that owns their own Teleport and /or Hub you save lots of Money interms of 24/7 support or any down time ..Just my advice to my folks out there in Africa

Have you considered 200 USD per month for 128 /512 kbps based on a Pay as you go network.  no monthly subscriptions, no disconnections.

This provideds the fastest and most consistent speed available in Nigeria.
