Title: help in determining satelitte information
Post by terryhdbailey on May 3rd, 2006 at 2:31pm
I am trying to figure out what the local provider is using for Internet feeds.   We are in Bagdadh, IRAQ and I believe he is pointing 211 degrees.  From experience with ORBIT TV that seems it would be  ARABSAT 3A.  Is that the right assumption?

Second is I am looking for somewhere I can find the frequencies for receive to dish and transmit from dish and/or the range that those frequence could be.  Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Using my calculator https://www.satsig.net/sf.htm and Baghdad at 33 deg 16 min N, 44 deg 12 min E and trying various satellites it could be Arabsat at 26.2E, PAS-5 at 26E or Eutelsat at 25.5E.   A local provider is most likely to be a reseller of one or more services on several possible satellites. Ask.

For frequencies, contact the service providers themselves or talk to the local provider to ask what he has to offer.  Tell him what equipment you have and he will be able to suggest a suitable satellite.   If you already have modem and dish you need to find a compatible hub operator.

Review the alternatives here: https://www.satsig.net/ivsat2.htm

Best regards, Eric
