Title: Need iDirect KU-Band Service over Fiji
Post by 400Degrees on Aug 2nd, 2007 at 7:47pm
Gentlemen,

Are there any providers who can quote me on a 512 up 2mb down VNO solution over Fiji. We need this service up yesterday. If you are able to accomadate my requirements please respond with following information.

Pricing for bandwidth at:

512 up 2mb down
256/1mb
128/512
128/256

Again I need two sets of quotes, one VNO quote for 512/2mb and a set of qoutes for the data rates above.  Thanks in advance!

Gentlemen,

Do any of you know of any VSAT service providers to the Fiji Islands? We would like to get pricing on a 128 up 512 down Ku-band link over the iDirect platform. C-band is not a option.

I think you will have a hard time finding someone with an iDirect-enabled service delivering KU based services over Fiji.  From a network operator's perspective C-band makes more sense as that will provide a larger coverage zone and more quickly populate the line card, leading to a faster return on investment.

Intelsat 701 covers the region with a KU spot beam.  Perhaps you should try to get a small SCPC circuit from someone with a teleport in Brisbane, Australia - otherwise you'll have to see if Intelsat can cross-strap the Ku beam to another beam that lands someplace with backbone Internet access.

Why isn't C-band an option?  You're going to have rain fade issues in Fiji. Your KU ODU will probably have to be almost as big as C-band gear anyway.

Good luck.
