Post by gssumaster on Aug 26th, 2007 at 7:44am
We already have dial-up internet connection in East Africa from this Company TAIDE.NET and is a DIALUP Connection if I am trying to add more bandwidth becouse the connection internet is very slow or connecting to MSN or viewing images on the web. Any suggestion how I can or what I can use to speed up the connection so my customers can be happy most of them they using my connection for a cyber cafe and they sending email telling the internet is slow

Help needed here!

You only have a dial-up phone line modem connection to your ISP at the moment.

It may be possible to augment this with extra download capacity via a satellite dish for receive-only, similar to receiving satellite television. To get this to work you need a box PC with a plug in DVB-S receiver card connected to the antenna or you need a stand alone ethernet box connected to the antenna.

Would gssumaster say where in East Africa ? This is important regarding which beam covers your country.

I would be pleased if anyone knowing of a one-way satellite internet download carrier for Africa would say and suggest how it might be connected.

Best regards, Eric.

Eric is correct i hope my post will help you, if you have the DVB-S receiver card like Technisat or B2C You need to get a better bandwidth with limited size of downloads or unlimited downloading which is i would go for as you are an internet cyber cafe and your clients can download movies etc and for sure you want them to download as much as they want, so i say go for unlimited downloading, then try to get a bandwidth with a low contention ratio which is the number of the users who's sharing your bandwidth with you, normaly for cyber cafes the try 1:5 or 1:2 bandwidth, and the best solution is to choose CIR bandiwdth but be carefull it's not cheap, but it's much better when it comes to stability and the other services you can offer to your clients such as VOIP, paying attention to your limitation on your DIAL up line capacity, after all you can help the experts here by telling them the number of users you have in your cyber cafe and they will get you the correct bandwidth.

I installed many One way systems to cyber cafes, to tell you the truth it doesn't worth it, if you can go for two way, as the one way connection can drop and be useless if the Dialup connection dropped down :S

Try to seek for One way ISP and always ask them for a demo.

Best Regards
