Title: iDirect 3100 retry limit exhausted
Post by rcnap on Jun 20th, 2007 at 1:08pm
We set up our 3100 this week according to our ISP's instructions.  Now our internet is very slow with most pages timing out.  We see a lot of "retry limit exhausted" packets in the ethernet statistics.

Our ISP doesn't know what the problem is and say they are working with iDirect.

Has anyone seen this before or have any idea what might be causing our problems?

I ran across your post while searching for information on the exact same problem.  I ran into the "retry limit exhausted" errors when trying to diagnose a problem with an iSCPC link using 5100 series modems.  According to the TAC the retry limit exhausted counts reported in iSite are only valid for II+ modems.  On the iNFINITI series the data is just random data pulled from  memory and not actual errors.  The bug is referenced in the release notes for 7.0.1 and higher.  In my case I was using iSite 7.1.1.  If you are suspecting an ethernet issue on your 3100 you can login to the modem using telnet and issue the "eth" command to see the interface statistics or from the linux console try the command:

cat /proc/net/dev

Best Regards,

Tim
