Title: Hughesnet in jamaica
Post by satcent on Jan 20th, 2008 at 5:24pm
I have put my Hughes .98 (HN7000s) in Jamaica 4 months ago and then lost my cross pole for no reason?

I change the transmitter, cable, and modem, checked to signal - 89 (green) but cross pole fails at 30-41 .
checked the pol. #s, el.#s and mag. #s all right on the money.
and the pole mount is perfect.

any reason this is not working??????

Thanks

ps . I used the long/lat #s to set it up with and they are right

Are you on the same transponder that you started on 4 months ago? If the crosspol was biased at that time, being moved to a transponder of the opposing polarization will produce the issue you describe. Hughes has the capability to arbitrarily move customers without their consent or knowledge. If this is the case, yours is not an unusual problem - nor is it a difficult issue to remedy.

Do you adjust the POL by rotating the TRIA or by rotating the whole reflector? Do you by any chance have access to an OPI?

Hi Greg

Yes I was on the same transponder and freq. as before.
but since all the trouble happened I have refreshed the modem to "no info like new" and did a rereg. but since it won't  xpole there is no info  in the system setup.
I don't know if hughes changed anything on me?
Is there a way to check? or change it.

I probably have the orignial #s

thanks

George

Yes, you can do it yourself - but only if you can find the original satellite and transponder assignment. I can then help you with the rest of the numbers. Part of that process is to check - and correct if necessary - the ACP (crosspol).

If after all that you have the same problem, it's possible Hughes changed your transponder assignment when you weren't looking.

Hi all

I am VSAT Tech in west africa and mostof the time spend time on HN7000s terminals.

This terminals has problem like it resets it self for default values. check the terminal cfg files if it is not correctly configured for the service provider parameters. reset the parameters as per service provider settings that includes your GPS locations.
