Dear Mr Walker,

I am making arrangements today to goto Camp Spiecher,  if everything works out I should be there in about 72 hours.  I will email you as soon as know get confirmation that the trip is possible.

Thank you

its really a matter of polarization

when i first started this whole finding the satellite business i spent two days once asking my friend to come over with his fancy sat finder.

with isite its really a piece of cake. in 10 minutes i can find u the sat.

just loosen all the bolts for elevation and az then sweep slowly by way of UP DOWN then left right.
in other words, go UP then sweep left right then DOWN then sweep left right. SLOWLY.

|__(go right)_____
..............................|
____(go left)_____|
|

it helps if you have a compass so you know the area you're aiming at.

polarization again is a B*** because you can point directly at the sat and it wont show it unless the polarization is set correctly.

just my .02 cents.

Polarisation needs to be set accurately (+/- 1 deg) to avoid interference to other people.

Note that errors in polarisation of 10 deg or so either way will make little difference to your observed receive signal at the site so it is very difficult (*) for you to adjust polarisation on site by measurement.  You are required to get into a very narrow steep null, which is best detected and measured at the hub using a test CW transmit carrier from you.

I would recommend initial setting of polarisation angle by calculation.  The giant polarisation scales on the back of many the modern dishes are excellent.

(*) methods for finding the polarisation angle by local measurement are:
.   Use a narrow resolution bandwidth spectrum analyser and a cross pol CW beacon from the satellite.  Adjust to the centre of the null.
.   Using the wanted receive signal quality.  Turn until a severely degraded, but stable, receive signal is observed.  Record the degraded quality accurately and mark the angle.  Repeat on the opposite side and adjust for exactly the same degraded quality.  Then half the angle.

Best regards, Eric.

You should be able to call your BW provider.
Artel, Spacelink, ArrowHead, Intelsat, Eutelsat.

When first accessing a satellite it's important to PnP you antenna properly.  The providers NOC Engineer’s, will be able to assist you in this and help you optimize you signal.

Mine stopped locking on about a month ago also, either something changed on the satellite or your meter lost its programming.
