Title: CIR-IP Data rate-Throughput
Post by MrHertzio on Apr 26th, 2008 at 1:08am
Please, need help!
Remotes are 1.2m Antenna and 2W remote, according my link budget the max carrier size for the remote is 600kbps.
90% of my 200 remotes will have a CIR of 128kbps, mean none of this 180 remotes will Tx more than 128kbps. the remaing 20 remotes will have a CIR of 64kbps
Using a sniffer on my backhaul I can see that my Max traffic its around 1Mbps,  average is 500kbps.
In order to find the symbol rate to define into my M0D1, I have to consider that I wil not Tx more than a 128kbps(CIR)? or I have to see may Backhaul 1M?
If I define an Upstream for IP Data Rate 500kbps (on the sizing sheet iNPT), and my remotes will not tx more than a 128kbps(CIR), anyway I need to calculate the BUC power for 500kbps? or 128kbps?.
Thanks!

Trying to make sense of your para....

What is the size of the upstream carrier on your M0D1 line card (rx card)?

Any remote populated under that that network (that Rx card with its associated upstream carrier properties) needs to have the remote RFT hardware (BUC/SSPA) capable of closing it (fully).

CIRs/MIRs have no bearing on link closure as they are merely throttling/shaping/QoS.  So, you cannot set a 128kbps CIR and compute the link budget around 128kbps when the upstream carrier is 1MB.  (your BUC requirement would fall significantly short in planning the hardware requirements for closure)

From what I gather above, you need to compute for 1MB in the iNPT.

Thanks Mike!
"What is the size of the upstream carrier on your M0D1 line card (rx card)? "
As far as I know I have to set the Upstream for 600kbps (the max power can I Tx with that remotes).
"From what I gather above, you need to compute for 1MB in the iNPT"
So I have to configure 2 M0D1, in order to hace al l the Inbound traffic, because for each card I can have up to 600kbps?.

Thanks in advance!
