LinkStar VSAT modem

LinkStar™ is the star-based VSAT system for service providers, ISPs, and corporate network managers who are seeking a system based on DVB standards. LinkStar's edge is in its dynamic bandwidth allocation that makes it more efficient and faster than other TDMA systems. Terminals can transmit data to the network hub at speeds up to 1.15 Mbps, with data downloads of up to 60 Mbps, satisfying bandwidth-intensive applications using IP data.

Old Linkstar installation manual. 709k pdf

Glossy quick Linkstar installation guide 1.95 Mbytes pdf.  This should be in the box with your RCST modem. Note that the initial IP address is formed using the last 3 hex pairs from the MAC address, for the latest modems. e.g. 10.0.x.x 10.1.x.x. 10.2.x.x  10.3.x.x 10.4.x.x etc.

Before you start you need to know from your service provider:

The name and orbit location of the satellite, downlink frequency and the nominal polarisation name.

The configuration string (one long line of text that must be copied and typed in exactly, character by character) with no mistakes.

NEVER get the coax cables crossed over or shorted and always power off at the mains before connecting or disconnecting the coax cables.

Best reagrds, Eric.
