Is anyone there to help with the aligning of a hughes HX50 to the W6 satelite?
It would be good if you are stationed within Belgium.
this is very urgent as we procured the equipment 2 months ago and we have so far failed to get the right pointing
it is already standing on site, needs a pointing device.
get back to me on my email.
can be installed in brussels.
thanks.

Sitting in the house trying to get a ferry to Shetland for a weeks work.I think I would have more chance going to Belgium instead.
What you need is someone with a good analyser as W6 is very easy to find ,find Astra 19E and w6 is next one along.

Prepare your HX modem.  With the mains power off, connect the power supply module to the modem.  This is a multiway low voltage DC connector.  Never undo this connection.  Also, always turn off at the mains wall switch before working on the two coax cables.

Connect a PC directly to the modem and set up your modem configuration with the receive coax cable L band carrier freqency and symbol rate and IP addresses etc, for your service as per instructions from your service provider.

To set up the polarisation and pointing of your dish you need the following information from your service provider:

Satellite orbit position  21.5 deg East for Eutelsat W6
Downlink nominal (named) polarisation: Vertical or Horizontal
You need to know your location (lat-long see below)

Go to this page https://www.satsig.net/maps/satellite-tv-dish-pointing-uk-ireland.htm
to determine your angles. Expand the map image by clicking + till you can see your house and the blue line will indicate the azimuth direction across the garden fence.

Start by setting the polarisation.  With the dish oriented so that the feed support arm is at the bottom, put the radio assembly in the yoke.  For horizontal name polarisation set the LNB at the top.  For vertical name polarisation set the LNB at the side. Attach the horn and waveguide spacer tube so that the 505 and single tick mark are up, directly away from the support arm.  Now adjust the polarisation angle.  For example: For a -15 deg polarisation adjustment angle, stand behind the dish and face towards the satellite.  Turn the entire dish anticlockwise using the giant polarisation scale behind the dish to measure the amount of angle moved.

Set the elevation angle. Make an inclinometer, and how to use inclinometer.

Swing the dish boldly in azimuth and the RX LED will light when you pass the satellite. Spend at least 30 minutes peaking up.  Less than this and you have not done the job with sufficient accuracy.

Best regards, Eric.
