Title: Intelsat 901 18W (Can Not find) Post by ramzety on Jan 25th, 2009 at 4:20pm
Pleas help!
I have a channel master 1.8M dish, Idirect 7000 with opt file below. I have swept from -15 elv to +5 elv and can not seem to find the downlink anywhere. I am located in the IZ shooting 254 az with -7.64 elv to Intelsat 901. I have checked voltage on both the TX 24v and RX 19v cables. I have also been able to see carriers with a spec. I have not been able to get more than 3v on a muliti meter. Use this page dish pointing Iraq to find your correct azimuth, elevation and polarisation angles.
I think your elevation should be something like 12.2 deg and polarisation +57.1 deg. Elevation: Set the elevation angle either by using the scale on the bracket behind the dish or as follows: Read the manual to find the elevation offset angle of the dish (say X deg). Set the front face of the dish vertical. The beam elevation is now X deg. The wanted beam elevation is lower, so tip the top of the dish forwards by (X - 12.2) deg. Use an inclinometer placed upright against the front side edge of the dish or dangle a weight on a string down in front and measure the gap distance at the bottom. gap=sin(X-12.2) x vertical diameter of dish. Polarisation: Find out from the hub what your downlink polarisation is called. If vertical, first set your polarisation to true vertical by putting the LNB side arm so it sticks out sideways. The broad faces of the LNB rectangular waveguide will be on top and underneath. This is true vertical polarisation. Second: Now apply the polarisation adjustment +57 deg. Put an inclinometer sideways across the LNB or BUC body. While facing towards the satellite turn the feed/BUC/LNB assembly 57 deg clockwise. Options file: Check with your hub that you have the correct file. Ask about what your receive frequency and bit rate should be (plus ask what name is your downlink polarisation). For information, here is a view of your Hagerstown teleport hub dish and its pointing azimuth direction: Best regards, Eric. |

Eric thanks for the input but it seem that the focal piont of the Feed Horn was on the wrong notch.
Took a bit of brain storming but it is up and running. Thanks again... |
