Invitation to a WiMAX Engineering Training, 15-17 April 2009, eDevelopment House, Nairobi, Kenya
Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (WiMAX) is a standard-based wireless technology that provides high throughput broadband connections over long distance. WiMAX can be used for a number of applications, including "last mile" broadband connections, hotspots and high-speed connectivity for business customers. It can provide wireless metropolitan area network (MAN) connectivity at speeds up to 70 Mbps and the WiMAX base station on the average can cover between 5 to 10 km. It is this high speed and the wide coverage area(sometimes can cover an entire city), the low cost of deployment and its non-line-of-site character that makes WiMAX attractive to adopt. This three-day course offered by African eDevelopment Resource Centre in conjunction with Aircel Business Solutions is intended to focus on equipping telecom engineers with the necessary skills to plan and roll out a WiMAX Broadband Wireless Access network. WiMAX Engineering Course Objectives: On completing this course, delegates will Understand the end-to-end architecture of WiMAX networks, as opposed to the radio access method of the IEEE 802.16 standard. Understand what is needed in the core network to support a WiMAX network deployment. Understand the field measurements that are necessary after WiMAX network implementation. Gain an overview of current WiMAX industry practices and trends relevant to WiMAX engineering. Who Should Attend: All technical staff responsible for the successful planning, design and/or deployment of a WiMAX network. This is a must attend course for all those implementing or planning to roll out a WiMAX network. The registration fee for this course US$ 1050 or Ksh 84,000 add 16% VAT and includes the Course handbook and CD, administrative costs, Certificates will be issued on successful completion of the Course.
