Title: DW 7000+"stuck parameters" Problem, Balad Iraq
Post by shortbill on Mar 23rd, 2009 at 5:21pm
we purchased a 1.2 meter dish and modem from an outgoing unit for use on the WAFA network.

we are aiming at EutelSat W1 at 10E
Freq:15240
Rx Symbol: 30000000

I've pointed the dish and started receiving a solid 29 signal, which tells us that the frequency in the modem is wrong. So I check the modem and its set to something like 11000

Everytime I change it to 15240 and apply changes, the modem resets and the frequency is back to 11000

this is driving me nuts!.

Please read this similar experience and the use of rf command (reset to factory default).
https://www.satsig.net/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl?board=point;action=display;num=1223940768

Note that someone reported that doing rf caused permanent problems with the software downloads.  It is conceivable that the 'stuck parameters' symptom could be due to a hardware fault.

In view of the risk of permanently making the modem useless I recommend you contact your service provider and get their instructions as to what to do to solve the problem of stuck parameters on the configuration screen.

If you follow their instructions and it does not fix it then they may be able to replace the modem.

Best regards, Eric.

Well I absolutley don't want to turn my modem into a paperweight, however the guy I've been talking to at WAFA keeps telling me to take screenshots of this and that and then he just points out to me that the frequency is wrong and no matter how many time I try to explain to him that it doesn't save he just tells me that we have to put in the right numbers. Then he tried to tell me that if we didn't input the ip address info correctly that the signal would never go above 29 and well all know that is BS. I'm having serious communication problems with the support ppl at WAFA.

I've spoken today to my friendly expert on DW7000.  The "stuck parameters" symptom is a known anomaly that does occur occasionally.

The cure is to telnet in and apply the command rf (reset to factory default).

I do not recommend you try this command without being instructed to do so by WAFA, your service provider.

Best regards, Eric.

Good advice Eric, thank you.

I have contacted Wafa and also sent an email to William to help him complete the rf command procedure and supply him with the correct parameters needed to reconfigure the modem after the rf command.

Best regards, Alex Gibson.
