Title: Identifying IP Address For iDirect Modem Post by francyb on Mar 25th, 2009 at 3:33am
Hi all,
I have an iDirect 3000 series router. It came from another installer. How can i identify the IP address on it for me to log on to it and make configuration changes? Best regards, Francis |

I usually take a laptop that has wireshark installed on it and plug it directly in to the modem's lan port. Start a wireshark capture and then reboot the modem by disconnecting the power. When the modem boots up it should broadcast some traffic and give you it's currently configured IP.

Or run iSite and if it has a working Ethernet port it should be auto discovered. If however the options file is incorrect then the Ethernet port will not come up.
A far simpler solution is to console in with a console cable and watch the boot process. |

Hi dot,
Thanks for your input. I have connected the console cable and got a lot of scrolling text on my screen. I had to wait for it to finish scrolling and see what the first lines look like: DRAM Test ................ DRAM Test Successful +Ethernet eth0: MAC address 00:60:43:00:00:00 IP: 192.168.0.1/255.255.255.0, Gateway: 192.168.0.2 Default server: 192.168.0.2 I assumed that the above is the IP address but still could not login either using iSite or telnet session. However, i phoned the previous owner and they gave the preconfigured ip address as 41.209.2.97, net mask 255.255.255.248. Why was i not able to see this preconfigured ip address at boot time with my console cable? How can one reset the modem to factory defaults? I must say i have found Wireshark to be useful too. Before calling the previous owner of the modem i was able to establish the ip address. The only thing is how does one over ride the password? Thanks for your postings. Francis |

If you can console into the modem you can obtain the IP address from the unit.
using the command: 'laninfo' at the idirect prompt. |

What u want isnt really a problem, just console into the modem via hypertherminal and start with the >

Wen u get past here u then type "laninfo" and u wil surely get the ip address of ur idirect box Lemme know wen ure tru |
