If you have a Ku band LNB (10-12GHz) for satellite TV it is likely that the LNB is a "Universal" type, capable of operating on vertical or horizontal polarisation and in the lower or upper parts of Ku band by command from the receiver. 13V or 19V being used to select the polarisation and a 22kHz tone to select the band (9.75 or 10.6 GHz LO freq).  If you have such a "Universal" LNB then you need to learn how to drive it using the receiver set up.

If you have a single polarisation Ku band LNB with fixed LO freq, then you would benefit by buying a "Universal" version.

If you are using a C band LNB (4 GHz) is is possible that it is set to one particular polarisation; in which case you are missing half of all possible programs.  You can change linear polarisation by turning it by 90 deg.   You may be able to change circular polarisation by turning a dielectric plate polariser by 90 deg.  Study the design of your LNB.  There are variations with some having the possibility of remote control, some mechanical, some electro-magnetic  etc.  Get hold of the LNB and feed system operating guide,  if possible.

Best regards, Eric.

Thx Eric for these very helpful info. I'll have to check the type of LNB that I've got but do you think it will work with the decoder that canal provided me or should I buy a FTA receiver ?

Hello, hope that it ain't against the rules of this board but i'd recommend you to get in touch with several African Sat DXers in this topic: https://forum.paytv.ro/showthread.php?t=36090
They know best the receivers used in your region and also the real reception conditions and can thus recommend the proper equipment.

Best regards from Germany.
